Membership and volunteer guidelines

Welcome to BCG we are happy you have joined our friendly, fun gardens and hope your stay is a great one. As a ‘Community’ garden we wish for all members and visitors to come to a safe place and to always feel welcome. Please ensure you read and understand our Member Guidelines below:

GARDEN ACCESS - Upon joining you will receive a code for the front gate lock & tool shed. So yes!! You have full access to the gardens whenever you wish to visit - 24/7 so go for it! This code will change each financial year.

GARDEN PARTICIPATION - As a BCG Member we encourage you to help at our Busy Bees 2 times a year if possible!

If you are unable to help at Busy Bees, there are other fun and rewarding opportunities to support BCG. i.e., We have 4 subgroups that require additional help from time to time: Garden Crew; Marketing & Events; Members, Volunteers & Plot Management; Assets & Projects.

WHO CREATES & ENFORCES BCG RULES? Our current and past President, Committee and Members have created our ‘Rules.’ Each year they are reviewed and rectified if needed. BCG encourages members to inform the committee if they see any visitors or members not abiding by BCG rules. Any enforcement will first be discussed with the unabiding member or visitor to ensure they have the opportunity to discuss and provide feedback to rectify the issue at hand.

SOCIAL MEDIA & WHAT’S ON: We also aim for a great community spirit at the gardens and look forward to you being a part of what we do. So please join our Facebook/ Instagram pages (there is a members only BCG Facebook page as well!), follow us and take part in our regular workshop education opportunities, busy bees and more!

ORGANIC:  Organic gardening is strongly encouraged - we DON’T support the use of chemical pesticides and herbicides so please DON’T use them, thank you.

GARDENING TOOLS: As a member you are most welcome to use all facilities within BCG and this includes tools. Please ensure you know how to use them safely & properly if not ask someone if you are unsure. Return all tools to where you found them - so all members can find them - thank you!

NEED HELP: Who can you ask… Other members are usually most happy to help those in need. You can always jump on our Facebook page and ask some questions about what you need help with!

SAFETY: Always be aware of your surroundings BCG takes no responsibility for personal injury or loss of possessions.
